This is so cool you guys. Check this video out, it was made by the Director of my office. It is a piece showcasing our neighborhood and as I come to the end of my second week I see more and more why taking this job was a good move for me.
You see for the past 6 years or so I haven't belonged anywhere. When I sold my house I rented for a bit then moved in with Steve. But even then we weren't there for long until we moved down to SW Virginia and I only stayed down there for a year or so. The bottom line was that I never got to put roots down anywhere.
So a year and one half ago I found myself in Michigan and wondered if I'd ever find a place that I'd be able to call home. I figured that I'd just put my time in here and then move as soon as the cubs graduated from school (the cubs being the only reason why I came to Michigan).
But this job...this place...is going to force me to put down roots whether I like it or not. Everyday I learn more and more about my community and help to make it a better place.
Something in my heart tells me that I'm home.
Things are really busy and I'm so sorry for being an absentee landlord of my Blog. But the weekend is coming so I'll catch up with you guys then. Until then I hope that you are all well. Miss you all. Take care and may God bless.
Way to go Mary E! I see you've been quite busy and I am so glad you are finding your place to call home. When you love what you do it makes all the difference in the world doesnt it?-- PolarB ;)
ME - nice post - I don't have sound at work - so the nice pictures. What a vision to be able to transformed communities! One of my heroes is Bob Lupton who has been doing this for over 40 years in Atlanta, GA. Check out his work some time.

Hey PolarB, how are you? Yeah, I have been pretty busy...lol. Life just kinda exploded but in a good way. Some of those things, namely the job search, that I'd been working on for a 16 months finally came to pass. But as a result I just haven't been a good blogger at all. I've thought about you often and I hope that you're well and that the healing of the knee is going well. I promise I catch up with ya this weekend.
It's true, home is where the heart is but it is nice to put roots down finally. God, I was beginning to wonder if I would ever have ANY type of stability in my life again. You know what I mean? Anyway, have a good one sweetie.
Hey Ron, I'll have to check him out. I was amazed at how much there is to the community development movement. Did you know that there are people who have Masters degrees in this field...I didn't!!! It's definitely not a field to be taken lightly and I sense that it will challenge me just as much as my legal career. You're right, it's good stuff!!! Have a wonderful evening my friend. Take care.
Hey Ron...PS...check the video out when you get home the narrative and the music are pretty good. Plus, you're still at work!!! Hope that you get to go home soon. Be safe.
Wow, ME, I've been asking myself that question a lot these days.....
I think it's so wonderful that you feel as if you are starting to settle in a bit. The heart knows what it's doing even if the brain is slow to catch on.

Gosh - the film captured such beauty in your area - that is awesome. Also it showed many families living together as families - that is always attractive. No wonder you want to set down roots. Who wouldn't want to be apart of that? I am so happy for you - it looks like, my little butterfly, that you may have found where your lies afterall. Funny how every now and then we just sigh and say "this is good" -

That's wonderful, ME! It's very seldom that people actually feel that way about their community & their job. Sounds like you have found your real home. Your heart seems to be there. Good for you!

Amazing changes! I am sure you will appreciate everything so very much! Roots are good and when you feel like you are doing something really good with your job, not just working, you are going to glow all the time...from the inside out.
I am so very happy for you! You have paid your dues, learned some hard lessons, and God has helped you get what He knows you need. Just watch out for the occassional divets and you will be good to go! Major HUGS girl!

Hey Mac, I honestly believe that everything does happen for a reason. When I look at the past, oh say 10 years of my life I can see how each and everything that happened worked for the good even if I didn't think so at the time. You also made a good point that the heart seems to know even if the brain takes a bit of time to catch on!!! Take care sweetie and I hope all is well with you.
Hey Lou, glad you liked the video. It's a neat place to be. There are still some days when I shake my head about being in Michigan but working at this job helps to minimize those moments...lol. Have a great weekend my dear and God bless. Love, ME.
Welcome to Michigan. I have lived here my whole life. It is a great place to live. I am glad you planted those roots here. These day more people are moving out of Michigan then to it. It will turn around here it always does. Good luck here and I hope you like your new state.

Good Morning my dear Lucy, I'm so glad you liked my little community video. You're right, sometimes we do get to just sit back and say, this is good. It's true that God really did have a plan and that all I had to do was be patient and let it unfold. From my separating from Steve and landing in Michigan to the trials that I faced to this job that is allowing me the means to support the cubs while simultaneously infusing me with a much needed sense of belonging!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!! It's so perfect but what else would God deliver to me, right?!
Take care my dear and I'll catch up with you sometime this weekend until then take care and God bless.
La La how are you my dear? Thank you for the kind words. It's nice to finally have some things going my way, you know!!! How are you today? I hope that you're having a great weekend and that all is well. Love ya.
PS...thanks for the music. I needed some tunes over here!!! Rock on La La, rock on!!!
Hey Secret, I feel really blessed. With the exception of the neighborhood where I grew up I've never felt like a "part" of the community. This job will give me the chance to do that and really regain a sense that I've been missing. Life is good and praise God getting better. I hope that you are doing well my dear. Have a great weekend.
Hi Colo, you're right...busy is good. Funny, I kinda forgot what it's like, can you imagine!? Anyway, I'm finally in a good place and it's so wonderful to share it with my friends here in the Stream. Take care my dear and have a great weekend.
HeatherScot, is that your picture? How beautiful!!! It's good to see you. Funny, I always wonder what different bloggers look like...lol. Thank you for your kind words and I'll heed your warning about the occasional pitfalls. I know that life will continue to have it's ups and downs but I tell you nothing can compare with the HELL that I just came from. I thank God everyday for saving me from myself.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend my dear and I'll catchup with you later. Take care. Love ya.
Hello Pilar, how are you? Glad you liked my community video. It's odd to go from a government job to a non-profit but I really am enjoying the change of scenery...lol. I hope that you're well and that you have a wonderful weekend. Take care and God bless.
