The Restoration of ME

 Day of Days

Yesterday was a "Day of Days" for me (if you saw the movie, The Chronicles of Riddick, that's were the phrase comes from). Anyway, I went out with my daughter shopping for clothes and half way through I realized that a...

RITE OF PASSAGE...was taking place and I reveled in the experience!!!

What exactly was it? Basically the whole shopping experience! Walking up and down the aisles, pulling items out, and commenting on them It was all so fun but it really hit me when we went into the dressing room.

I sat down with the clothes in my lap, taking them off the hangers, and handing them to her one by one...I remember doing this EXACT activity with my mum but in reverse. She would come and plop down on the seat and hand the clothes to me. I was such a wonderful moment!!! I felt blessed to have brought something full circle in my life. Now I know clothes shopping isn't a big meaningful activity but the point was the sharing of time...the bonding.

I remember many fun times shopping with me mum and I hope this is the beginning of good memories for my daughter!!!

And as if that wasn't enough we had something happen that will ensure that we never forget the day!!! You'll notice in my facts that I say that McDonald's is a necessary evil...
and days like yesterday are the reason why. We had been out for an insane amount of time and I was starved!!! So we pull out of the parking lot and guess what's right in front of us. MY gosh, you can't get away from the stupid places!!!
Now I know it's unhealthy food but my blood sugar was plummeting, so in we drive...

ME (at the pick up window): Thanks, can I have a straw?

Clerk: OK

ME (as I turn to my daughter): Do you have everything?

Daughter: No, they forgot the sauce!

ME (turning back to the pick-up window): Arrrrrgh!!! (cough, sputter, gag). It's YOU!!! (look of shock, horror, and surprise as I turn around and see RONALD MCDONALD at the pick-up window)

ME (again): It's YOU...WHAT..HOW...WHY!!!

note: if I had a weak heart I would have had a heart attack. I had a major wigout for about five minutes! I just sat there babbling. The crew in the back were taking pictures and laughing at me. Seeing the state that I was in Ronald proceeded to blow me off and have a conversation with my daughter!!!

note: one thing I DID notice...Ronald had beautiful blue eyes.

We laughed the whole way home...it was indeed a "Day of Days"... Ba..ba, ba, ba, ba...I'm Lovin it!

My Computer is on Ex-Lax Tonight!!!

I'm about to throw this thing out the window...it's going so slowwww. All I've been doing all day is watching that stupid blue line move until the site timed out!!! I'm amazed I got this far. I don't know if it's my service or has something to do with the snow storm this weekend. Anyway, rather than torture myself I'll say hello and good night. Hope you all have a wonderful evening!!! See you all tomorrow!!!

Why Do You Do What You Do?

WHY do you get out of bed every morning?

WHY do you strive to become an honorable person?

WHY do you seek excellence in your life?

WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?

I do what I do, get out of bed and look for job, because of my children...I seek to be an honorable person because I want them to be honorable and I need to model that behavior...I seek excellence because they deserve a good mother.

I suppose that part of it is also for myself but primarily it is them.

Yup, me and my 3 cubs...

I Just Learned an Important Lesson About Public Forums

I just received a private e-mail that I hope the sender won't mind if I address. The comment read...

i came to your blog as a result of reading your comment on another blog which talked about a traffic accident and, sadly, the resultant loss of life. after going through some of your posts i was having difficulty seeing how a person such as you could have left a comment such as that.

Immediately upon reading this I e-mailed back asking specifically what comment. Upon examination of the posting and the comment I made I understand how the conclusion was drawn. The posting was made on Wednesday, February 8 in the blog "Rambling of an Old Soul." My comment started out "nice post, I agree with what you said."

I, IN NO WAY MEANT THIS TO BE A STATEMENT THAT THE PARENTS SHOULD BE BLAMED OR JUDGED FOR THE LOSS OF THEIR CHILD'S LIFE. I believe that a loss of life is a tragedy and a time for sympathy, never judgment.

The point I was speaking to, agreeing to, was the concept of tough love. Nothing more. Basically, that we, as parents, have to sometimes say no to our children and be tough with them for their own good.

The lesson that I learned was be careful about making wholesale agreements to postings.

Many times there will be multiple thoughts and sentiments expressed in one posting. I find that I'm drawn to certain comments and I gloss over others. A few times I've finished a comment only to go back and delete it because it seemed to me that I missed something and wanted to go back and address it. Sometimes, as in this case, I find that I'm reading my own conclusion into the posting and that's what I'm commenting on.

I understand the irresponsibility in this and apologize. As a member of the Blogstream community I have a responsibility to be more careful.

Next time I make a comment I'll be specific about the point that I'm speaking to.

 Friday Fun Facts!!!

OK, OK, here we go...

1. I LOVE Dunkin Donuts...Primarily, it's the coffee (I take mine half and half with 4 sugars-can anyone say coffee milk?). I don't go but once or twice a month but when I do, mmmmmmmmm, yummy, good...

2. Which leads nicely into this, my favorite donut is glazed with PINK icing and sprinkles...white icing is OK but when I see pink I go, mmmmmmmmm, yummy, good...

3. Once when I was a child my Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill gave me a very nice Snow White watch...I lost it in about 1 hour and they were very irked at me.

4. Head bands make my head hurt and if I keep one on long enough I get a headache.

5. The ONE thing I like about winter is being able to wear accessories...hats and scarfs make me feel all snuggly wuggly ...I like big hats made of polar fleece that I can pull down over my ears!!! ...and mittens make me feel like a kid.

TGIF everbody!!! May you all have a wonderful day!!!
