The Restoration of ME

 Got A Job...

ME

Got a job, y'all. Today was my first day and it went well. For all practical purposes I'm a Executive Assistant.

Um, this is tough, I don't want to sound ungrateful...I definitely am grateful due to the fact of having been without a job for 2 years. I now understand the significance of a job in MY life. And my God, in this economy I'm truly blessed to have found ANYTHING!!! But this is going to take some adjustment on my part.

(God, please let me get this out and not appear like a snob)...the issue is the comparison of what I did before with what I will being doing now. Um, I guess the best way to say it is that I was on the top of the heap before and now I'm at the bottom in terms of everything (pay, autonomy, prestige, etc).

It's weird...I think part of the adjustment will entail my dying to my former self. I hope that doesn't sound bad...what I mean is that I can't hold in my head at the same time what I was back then with who I am now. That would be an invitation to misery!!! I think that would fit into the category of living in the past...perhaps having this perspective I will on day be back on top...but in the meantime I need to enjoy where I am.

One of my reoccurring prayers has always been to ask God to help me be content with my circumstances...this is good practice, huh?

Please understand, I'm not having a TERRIBLY hard time with this...part of me is actually excited to be reinventing myself and a little humility never hurt anyone...but still, after all of the heartbreak of not having a job one would expect more excitement.

I think part of it is the possible ramification of this event...it takes me one more step away from Steve...steps that while I've been planning them seem different once manifested.

More facts to consider...

But still, I got a job... Yes!!! Now, as promised, I gotta come up with a new icon. Thank you all for being there!!!

If You Love Someone Set Them Free

Hey you guys, remember these two songs written and sung by Sting back in the day...

If I remember correctly Sting wrote "If You Love Someone Set Them Free" in response to the overwhelming popularity of the song "Wrapped Around Your Finger." Perhaps he was concerned that the song's popularity was a reflection of the general consensus of the public. Who knows...

During my 20 hours of driving this weekend I was going over the...EVER CHANGING FACE OF LOVE.

Is it possible that a person who loves in a controlling manner ultimately ends up being controlled by that love?

Or is the ultimate love a love with no control at all?

Maybe the two songs are meant to reflect the two ends of the spectrum of love...maybe not. Twenty hours is a long time to be thinking!!!

...JUST TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT.

If You Love Somebody Set Them Free
By Sting

If you need somebody, call my name
If you want someone, you can do the same
If you want to keep something precious
You got to lock it up and throw away the key
If you want to hold onto your possession
Don't even think about me

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone, set them free

Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

If it's a mirror you want, just look into my eyes
Or a whipping boy, someone to despise
Or a prisoner in the dark
Tied up in chains you just can't see
Or a beast in a gilded cage
That's all some people ever want to be

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone, set them free

Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

You can't control an independent heart
Can't tear the one you love apart
Forever conditioned to believe that we can't live
We can't live here and be happy with less
So many riches, so many souls
Everything we see that we want to possess

If you need somebody, call my name
If you want someone, you can do the same
If you want to keep something precious
You got to lock it up and throw away the key
If you want to hold onto your possession
Don't even think about me

If you love somebody
If you love someone
If you love somebody
If you love someone set them free

Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free

Wrapped Around Your Finger
By Sting

You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes,
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger
I have only come here seeking knowledge,
Things they would not teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turned into a shining band of gold

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to it's fruition

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
Then you'll find your servant is your master,

And you'll be wrapped around my finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

 Friday Fun Facts

Love it, love it, love it...

1. When I smile I smile big...so big that my eyes squinch up into little slits...I love to laugh and I love to smile!!!

2. I became a Trekkie by OSMOSIS...really. When I was just a wee little cub I used to go to summer camp. When I came home I would turn on the TV and lay down on the couch. The show that was always on was STAR TREK. I'd watch a bit of the beginning then fall fast asleep, hey I was tired for all of that fun camping stuff!!! I'd wake up sometime in the middle of the show and watch the end. Thus, I was hooked...a Trekkie for life...

3. My favorite ice cream is made by Baskin Robbins and the flavor I've loved for over 30 years now is PINK BUBBLEGUM!!! Funny, it's now my children's favorite...love it, love it, love it!!! (notice that Baskin Robbin next to that Dunkin Donuts...on top of an exercise studio...who are they kidding?...LOL)

4. My first stuffed animal was Peter Rabbit and I still have him...he's in a box because the cubs always want to play with him and he's already falling apart. His feet were mended with thread and love by my grandmother.

5. I'm keeping all of my children's nice stuffed animals so, if they want, they can have nice, warm, fuzzy memories from their childhoods.
