 For Rosie...

Thank you for being a friend.
Travel down the road and back again.
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.
And if you threw a party,
invited everyone you knew.
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
and the card attached would say,
thank you for being a friend.

 Giving

One of my dear friends who is currently living abroad just sent this to me. She is such a dear person with a beautiful personality. Once I saw it I knew that I had to pass it on to you all. Take care and hope all is well...

There are those who give little of the much which they have - and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome.

And there are those who have little and give it all. These are the believers in life and the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty.

There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.

And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.

And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue; They give as in yonder valley the myrtle breathes its fragrance into space. Through the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth.

-Kahlil Gibran, Lebanese Poet

Today We Laid My Brother-in-Law to Rest

Today was a sad day for we laid my brother-in-law to rest today. He will be missed. I was touched that his family insisted that I ride with them and I was listed in the program as a sister-in-law. The service was beautiful and while it did not quite rise to the level of an Irish funeral there were lots of sweet and funny stories told of him and his life. He was only 51 years old and is survived by this wife and daughter.

Here is a Bahai prayer for the departed. Rest in peace dear brother...

O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!

Verily, I beseech thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world.

O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows, and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water, and grant them to behold Thy splendors on the loftiest mount.
